ACP-EU discussions conclude

The weeklong ACP-EU meetings in Brussels have concluded.

Co-chair of the ACP-EU Joint Ministrial Trade Committee – Minister for Trade Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum briefed the meeting on the current state of the Economic Partnership Agreements.

He raised concerns about the African and Pacific configurations with regards to the on-going negotiations with the EU.

Sayed-Khaiyum says a higher level of commitment is needed by both sides, not only at technical level but also at political level.

He says this will provide the necessary impetus for the finalization of the outstanding negotiations.
