Accused Voluntarily Started Confessing: First Prosecution Witness

The first prosecution witness Samabula Police Station crimes officer Maha Ram took the stand in the alleged murder trial of former pilot Imshad Izrar Ali.

Ali is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged on November 3rd, 2009, Ali murdered his de facto-partner Rajeshni Sharma who was a kindergarten teacher at their residence at Rewa Street, Samabula.

Ram on investigating the incident said he entered the house through the back door and noticed a female lying on the floor with blood stains.

He told the court that during the caution interview on November 12th, the accused voluntarily started confessing and the caution interview was suspended.

He testified the accused was then taken to the crime scene where Ali showed the exact scenario as to how the incident took place.

Following the caution interview on November 12th, 2009, the accused then fled to India and was arrested by New Delhi Police two years ago.

The trial continues tomorrow.
