ACCF receives death and injury notifications

The Accident Compensation Commission has received one death and nineteen injury notifications from schools across the country.

Since January 1st, the ACCF announced that all students will be entitled to compensation for injuries and death as a result of an accident occurring on any school premises or during a school event or activity.

Chief Executive Parvez Akbar says it’s the duty of the school to report such incidents to the Permanent Secretary for Education and to notify the Commission.
This is to be done within 14 days.

In any case of death, the case must be reported within seven days.

The application for compensation is to be done by the students’ personal representative.

Of the 19 injury notifications received by the Commission, six have applied for compensation.

The ACCF have also received the application for death compensation.
