ACCF in final stages of discussions

The Accident Compensation Commission is in the final stages of finalizing details of the processes that will be involved in applying for compensation in regards to school students and work related incidences.

Chief executive Parvez Akbar says as announced in the 2018/2019 national budget, the commission will accommodate compensation in these areas starting from January 1st, next year.

Akbar says the aim of this initiative is to ensure that many Fijians benefit from it.

" We are working closely with key stakeholders like the Ministry of Employment in terms of ensuring that there is a smooth transition from them to us in terms of work related applications and also put together guidelines."

Akbar says every year several sport personnel’s get injured and children get hurt in schools, therefore, he’s urging Fijians to take advantage of the scheme when it comes into effect.

The commission has been allocated a budget of $1.7 million dollars for 2018/2019 financial year.
