ACCF conducts awareness session

The Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji ran an awareness workshop at Nausori Primary School today.

Present at the session were teachers, members of the school committee and family members of the victims of the Lakena bus accident.

The session covered the following topics that include Legislative Framework, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Employment Accidents, Rights and Obligations, and School Accidents.

ACCF CEO, Parvez Akbar provided details on victims’ rights and obligations under the Accident Compensation Scheme and explained to the attendees how to apply for compensation.

Also present at the session were the family members of the two students who had passed away in the Lakena bus accident and Akbar discussed with them in detail how ACCF can assist them.

Akbar also spoke to family members of some of the students who had been injured and explained the process regarding applying for and determining any entitlement to compensation.

The school committee expressed its gratitude to Akbar for reaching out to the school and helping them understand how the Accident Compensation Scheme works and how ACCF is helping the victims of the Lakena bus accident.

As of today, ACCF has paid in excess of $5.5 million in compensation since 01st January 2018.
