Numerous reports have been received that most type one diabetics have been rejected from their homes.

The reports were forwarded to the Young diabetes Fiji – a non-governmental organization working to help those below the ages of thirty to be more aware of the disease and its effects.

YDF President Shikha Kumar is urging the public to accept loved ones who are diagnosed with type one diabetes.

”Our sugars are up and down and we are very quick to get sick like if the sugars are really high and if we get a cut, it’s hard to heal and sometimes we just get stressed, you know relationship wise, rejection from boys or girls and normal life issues it can get very messy ”

Kumar adds Type one diabetes is more dangerous when compared to type two which can be cured.

The illness is caused by the lack of insulin production in the body which is commonly found in children and has no cure.
