The Textile, Clothing and Footwear industry has recovered very well in the past seven years and currently employs 7000 people.

TCF Council President Kaushik Kumar says annual exports currently stand over $110m and he expects to see steady growth in exports and employment.

‘’A number of existing factories have also got major expansion plans and many are investing in new plant and machinery. The improved access under developing countries preference to Australia has been beneficial and we thank both the Fijian and Australian governments for their assistance’’.

Kumar adds a few foreign-based fashion companies will begin operations in Suva in the next couple of months.
