A Parliament for all Fijians

Some villagers in Naitasiri have praised the openness and transparency of the Parliament particularly, including the public during sitting days.

The villagers of Naqali and Nawaqabena stated during the “Meet the Speaker” programme held in both the villages this week that this was an “inclusive Parliament” for all Fijians.

The programme was facilitated by the Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni who presented in detail what her role was about and other information about Parliament.

Naqali village headman Mosese Vosabeci says they never knew that Parliament sittings were usually opened to the public.

He says because the program, they’re more enlightened and encouraged to visit Parliament and be part fo the sittings.

Nawaqabena village headman Tom Gaunavou shared similar sentiments and commented they would love to visit Parliament one day.

Meanwhile Speaker of the House – Dr. Jiko Luveni encouraged the villagers to visit Parliament when they can and to ensure they participate as much as they can in the processes of the august house.
