“Fiji Day is a time that our country shows its uniqueness, where everyone comes together as one in line with the theme “Fiji – An all inclusive and caring nation.”
Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere shared these sentiments while officiating the Fiji Day celebrations in Labasa yesterday.
He says Fiji Day is a day of unity and celebration of our shared history.
“Fiji Day celebration is not only a time for reflection about our 47 years as an independent nation, but also envisioning for a brighter future that beckons now. As a sovereign state, we have shown great resilience by overcoming many challenges along the way.”
Civil servants, students and the public started the celebrations with a march from Y-Corner to Subrail Park where the main celebration was held.
There were also some traditional competitions and games for both the public and civil servants as well as some entertainment from cultural groups.
