Government will ensure that every Fijian is connected to the electricity grid.
Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says they will ensure that power supply is given at an attractive cost.
He says the government is targeting to have 99 percent renewable energy by 2030.
“You’ll be surprised to see know that some people in Fiji who don’t have access to electricity. They cannot use the fridge, they cannot use the lights when they come home from school to study, they do not have other amenities that we enjoy for those of us who have access to electricity.”
With Fiji’s presidency at the COP 23, Sayed-Khaiyum says Fiji does not only fly the Fijian flag but is also attracting investment on renewable energy.
