There have been ninety-four cases of tuberculosis from January to June this year.

TB Control Officer Dr Mesulame Namedre says that these cases have dropped compared to three hundred and twelve cases in 2016.

Namedre says that more awareness on TB needs to be undertaken for all age groups and one way to reach out to various communities is through the Breathe Well Mobile Clinic.

“We actually recorded quite a few cases last year so with the launch we will be able to use this truck to reach out to the communities. There are some other countries that use these same program which is called TB reach so this is our Fiji version of TB reach, the Breathe Well Mobile Clinic.”

Namedre says that the Central division usually records the most cases of TB.

He adds that they will be out in Nausori tomorrow encouraging the public to get tested for TB and use the Breathe Well Mobile Clinic.
