Ravend Bhan Singh, Harish Chandra and Azeem Khan are contesting for the Presidential position.

Saneem says 276 association members will be voting in this election.

The election process will run from today until next Tuesday.

Saneem adds the membership of the FTA is conducted through an application process which was reinitiated following the ruling of a special enquiry into the affairs of the association.

He adds the findings gave two options, one was to deregister the association or to allow it to continue and oversee the conduct of a fresh election for office-bearers.

The SOE says based on the findings, there was a request made to the Minister responsible for Elections for the FEO to carry out the election process for FTA.

In addition, any person who owns a taxi does not automatically become a member of the association but in fact they have to apply to be a member.

He is also reminding non-members that they are still eligible to register but will not be voting in this election.
