The Ministry of Local Government has set aside eight hundred and ninety thousand dollars to carry out rehabilitation work at the Sigatoka Riverbank.
Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar says this was overlooked and neglected by previous administrations.
“This project will cost around eight hundred and ninety thousand dollars. The work also includes the hiring of a civil and structural engineer to carry out the assessment which has been done, the designs have been done, specification and tender documents are all done and now the work has commended.”
Kumar says the rehabilitation will be carried out over 200 meters along the river bank.
He says once completed, there will be more seating space and recreational areas for Fijians to enjoy.
