89 cocaine bars found to date: Police

The Police Force has to date found eighty-nine bars of cocaine in separate discoveries.

Most of the discoveries were made in the Lau Group.

Of the eighty-nine, forty-five cocaine bars were found in the Lau Group, thirty-six in east Lomaiviti, seven in Taveuni and one bar was discovered in Savusavu.

Police says no one has been arrested or found to be trying to sell off the drugs based on information received earlier.

An amnesty period has been put in place to allow those who may have found the bars of cocaine to turn the illicit drugs over to Police.

The amnesty expires next Monday.

The public are requested to call toll free number 3318 529 if they have any information or may have made similar discoveries of cocaine.

The Police is warning any person who without lawful authority acquires, supplies possesses, manufactures, cultivates, uses or administers an illicit drug; or engages in any dealings with any other person for the transfer, transport, supply, use, manufacture, offer, sale, import or export of an illicit drug, commits an offence and will be prosecuted under the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.
