An 8-year-old girl who was a victim of a motor vehicle accident along the Queens Road in Vatukarasa, Sigatoka earlier this month passed away at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday.

The victim was walking along the road with an 18-year-old when they were hit by an oncoming vehicle.

The 18-year-old victim from Namada village was discharged from the hospital yesterday.

Police say investigations continue and the suspect who is in his sixties will be brought in for questioning once the post mortem is completed.

The road death toll currently stands at 47 compared to 44 for the same period last year.
