Seventy-five fuel service stations will introduce the government’s ten cents levy on single plastic bags from Tuesday.
Fiji Fuel Retailers Association secretary, John Philp, says to mark the progressive introduction of the levy, the service stations are taking up a collective challenge by asking customers to bring a bag or hand carry purchases to the car.
Dubbed the “One Million Plastic Bag Challenge” the fuel retailers are targeting over one hundred and seventy thousand licensed drivers as well as walk in customers.

Philp says the Association has invested in an awareness program to encourage customers to join in the challenge.
He says service station attendants will be the champions by challenging customers to join their commitment.
