718 people still living in tents around Fiji: Tuifagalele

Seven hundred and eighteen people are still living in tents around Fiji says National Disaster Management Officer, Director, Akapusi Tuifagalele.

While briefing the media yesterday afternoon, Tuifagalele said a report was released stating an increase in the western division however, a confirmation will be released later today.

National Disaster Management Office is focusing on moving anyone who is in danger to higher grounds.

“The priority focus remains the same – the relocation of households that are being affected during the cyclone and those who are still living tents and also the evacuation of those living in flood prone areas including the maritime.

A coordination is currently in place between the Fiji Military Force and the Fiji Police Force in regards to the safety of the people and those living in evacuation centres.
