About 700 young people who are passionate about youth issues will converge in Suva next week for a national conference.
The conference replaces the National Youth Day which is normally celebrated in August.
Youth and Sports Permanent Secretary – Josefa Sania says the conference is intended to empower young people to make the right decisions.
“This year there are elections also coming up… it is also important for them that they make good decision… we are trying to provide lectures and lecturers for them to strengthen them in decision making process.”
Instead of small events all over the country, young men and women who are passionate about issues concerning them will come up with ideas for youth development.
The Theme for the conference is: “Strengthening youths in decision making process.”
The last such conference was held in 2002.
