A teenager who raped a 9 year old boy at least 4 times between October 2014 and April this year has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.

He pleaded guilty to 1 representative count of rape in the Lautoka High Court and must serve at least 3 years before parole.

Court records state that the perpetrator who was 18 at the time admitted to committing the offence about 4 times.

The victim who lived in the same village as the perpetrator – in his police statement was able to describe 2 occasions when he was taken into the bushes and raped.

The Lautoka High Court in sentencing states that the perpetrator exploited the vulnerability of a 9 year old knowing he wouldn’t resist.
