Police are investigating a case whereby a seven-year-old girl was found dead, floating in Dreketi River, Macuata last weekend.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms the incident occurred when the Year Two student was accompanying her grandmother to a funeral.

Naisoro says the Force is trying to ascertain the circumstance surrounding the incident which led to her death.

The drowning death toll stands at 13 compared to 15 during the same period, last year.
