7 more schools to be turned to technical colleges

The Education Ministry has plans to convert seven more schools in the country into technical colleges in January next year.

Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy was responding to a question raised by Government MP Balmindar Singh on the update of establishment of technical colleges in the country.

Dr Reddy says the Ministry will be renovating a few schools into technical colleges.

“What we are looking at is converting infrastructure, which now no longer serves the original need, when it was established than, particularly schools, for e.g., we are looking at converting schools into technical college, if the schools has got a very low student number.”

The Minister says, a few schools, chosen to be converted into these technical colleges are Nawaca Primary School in Bua, Navualevu Primary School in Wainikoro and Nadroga/Navosa High School.

Dr Reddy says talks are still underway for the need to get more schools for these need.
