7 garbage trucks given to 3 municipal councils

Seven garbage compactor trucks have been handed over to three municipal councils by the Prime Minister.

The Lautoka City Council and the Nadi Town Council will each receive two trucks while three will be given to the Nasinu Town Council.

The trucks cost a total of $1,085,000.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says waste has to be managed well or people will become demoralized and frustrated and lose their sense of pride in their city.

He says Government is committed to having a safer and cleaner environment as it’s a part of our Green growth Framework which will be implemented across the country.

The Prime Minister has advised the three municipal councils to put the trucks to good use and the public have been advised to keep their environment and country clean.

The trucks are funded through the Ministry of Local Government Challenge fund.
