Development in any country must be dealt with as an apolitical issue because everybody must want prosperity says Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
He made the comment while responding to a question posed by Government MP on why we need a National Development Plan.
Sayed-Khaiyum told Parliament – 664 meetings have been scheduled to be held throughout the country.
“It is very critical to have these meetings Madam Speaker to have these meetings because we are hearing from directly from ordinary Fijians as to what they development priorities are, what are the everyday issues that affect them, what do they think they want as a development priority in 5 to 10 years time.”
216 meetings will be held in the Central Division, 191 in the Western Division, 108 in the Eastern Division and 148 in the Northern Division.
Government is also speaking to a number of multilateral agencies and development partners and interest groups in Fiji regarding these meetings.
