A 60-year-old man is in police custody for allegedly raping a 10-year-old student on the 10th of this month at his home.

The suspect is in custody at the Valelevu Police Station.

He allegedly committed the offence when the victim was at his home to get a frying pan.

The two are neighbors and the mother of the victim had allegedly asked her daughter to get the said item from him.

The alleged matter came to light when the victim informed her teacher during a gender counselling session on the 14th of this month.

Investigations continue.
