Accident on the Queen's Road along Korovuto in Nadi [Source: Andrew Deo]

A 60-year-old farmer of Sarava, Ba is believed to be the latest road fatality victim following an accident on the Queen’s Road along Korovuto in Nadi yesterday morning.

The victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old heading towards Nadi from Suva.

It is alleged the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and collided with a street light post.

Also traveling in the vehicle were three adults, a 9-year-old child, and a 2-month-old-baby.

All were rushed to the Nadi Hospital where the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two of the adults and the 9-year-old child were treated and sent home, while a man in his 50’s remains admitted in stable condition.

The 2-month-old baby is also admitted under observation as he sustained minor injuries.

The road death toll currently stands at 10 compared to 7 for the same period last year.
