About $6 million dollars has been allocated to the upgrading of the Government Shipping Services infrastructure.
Head of GSS and Permanent Secretary for Transport Francis Kean says works should be completed next week.
Three major developments are part of the upgrading project.
The first one is the dredging of the water ways -which has not been done for the last 20 years – costing about $800,000.
The second one is the upgrading of the jetty costing $1.35 million and the construction of a new shed, engineering workshop and office. This costs over $4 million.
The GSS office space, shed and engineering workshop has been demolished to make way for the construction of a new one – which costs government over $4 million.
