6 arrested for skimming ATMs

Six Asian nationals are in police custody for allegedly stealing money from people’s accounts using Automated Teller Machines or ATMs.

The Fiji Police Force confirms they were arrested for using electronic devices which were capable of capturing data from ATM cards as well as Personal Identification Numbers.

The group is alleged to have made more than 50 withdrawals and were caught up numerous ATM cards in their possession.

It’s believed a taxi driver in Lautoka tipped off police which led to the arrest of the suspects.

The six are expected to be charged later today.
