594 evacuees currently sheltering in 16 evacuation centres

A total of 594 evacuees are currently sheltering in 16 evacuation centres around the country.

Six evacuation centres are in the Central division, seven in the North and four in the Eastern division.

NDMO confirms that all evacuation centres in the Western division are closed.

Divisional Commissioners have been informed to provide two days food rations to evacuees in various evacuation centres.

All evacuees will return home after the Ministry of Health and Divisional Commissioners conduct assessments to ensure no health risks.

Teams in the Central, Northern and Eastern Divisions have commenced initial damage assessments.

Meanwhile, vessels operating between Denarau and Yasawa, Mamanuca, Vanualevu and Rotuma have resumed operations.

However, restriction of vessel movement still remains for those traveling to the Lau Group.
