58-year old Ashraf Ali laid to rest

58-year-old Ashraf Ali who was killed in the terror attack in Christchurch a week after arriving into New Zealand was buried by family member’s yesterday afternoon.

It was an emotional moment for the family members as Ali commonly known to his friends and community as Babu was laid to rest.

Ali went to New Zealand a week before the shooting to visit his families.

He was a regular worshipper and on the day of the shooting, he had accompanied his brother to the Al Noor Mosque in Deans Avenue in Christchurch.

Ali lost his wife less than a year ago.

He is survived by his daughter who lives abroad.

Meanwhile, the second victim Haji Hafiz Musa Patel will be laid to rest in Auckland this afternoon.

Fiji Muslim League confirms the funeral of Pesh Imam will be held at 3pm at SAMA section Manukau Memorial Garden in Puhinui Auckland.

Patel and his wife left Fiji three weeks ago for Australia and at the invitation of friends and well-wishers he went to Christchurch and was attending the Jummah Prayers when he was killed.

The massacre has claimed 50 lives.

The families of the third victim 61-year-old Ashraf Ali are still waiting for his body to be released.
