Around fifty one percent of land deposited in the land bank have been leased and money earned from it has directly gone to land owners.

The Lands Ministry says they continue to encourage landowners to fully utilize the government’s initiative in developing their land.

Permanent Secretary for Lands, Malakai Finau says land deposited in the land bank will remain with the landowners and the government will continue to market them for their benefit.

“But at the moment we have about ninety one parcels of land in the land bank and we have utilized about or leased, utilization means leasing, I think we have utilized about fifty one percent and our teams is working hard to lease out the balance.”

Finau is calling on landowners to take advantage of the land bank.

The establishment of the Land Bank Investment was borne out of the Governments Land Reform Initiative – now a critical output of the Ministry’s underpinning land availability and land resources development for economic development.
