$4 million worth of marijuana was located and seized in the Northern Division for last month alone.

This was revealed by Police Chief Operations Officer, Maretino Qiolevu at the closing of the Digicel Duavata Crime Prevention Carnival in Labasa last night.

Speaking to a packed Subrail Park, Qiolevu says the Force recently completed a national operation on drugs and raids were conducted throughout Vanua Levu last month focusing on the illegal marijuana trade.

He says this is one of the issues of concern for the Northern Division.

However, Qiolevu says the Fiji Police Force is extremely pleased with the recent activation of a number of crime prevention committees that have provided information to assist in the war against drugs.

“Community leaders are stepping up and rallying members of their communities to help eradicate this illegal trade.”

Qiolevu adds, despite attempts by critics lashing out on Police efforts on this illegal drug, the fact that it is against the law will mean they will not rest.

Meanwhile…… 19 year old Silika Baleinukuloa Jennifer was last night crowned Miss Duavata Crime Prevention 2018.
