“Forty-seven RFMF personnel there are there with four staff from the Ministry of Health who do the necessary health checks. From the reports that I get those that are in quarantine behave very well and they are following the quarantine requirements.”

The Commander adds they continue to work closely with the Health Ministry to ensure there is no breach of protocols.

“I think everybody understands the importance of sticking to the quarantine guidelines because it’s the only way we can contain the disease and right now we are so happy that there is no community transmission”

Fiji announced its first COVID-19 related death last month, a border quarantine case.

There are now eight active cases in isolation.
