466 small business and individuals in Savusavu receive grants

466 small businesses and individuals in Savusavu have received grants of $1,000 each from the government.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama handed out the grants in Savusavu yesterday afternoon.

A large number of those receiving the grants have agriculture or livestock business or tourism related ventures such as handicrafts and souvenirs.

Speaking at the event, Bainimarama says this is the fourth of it’s in which more than 1, 500 people have so far received their grants.

The other grant hand outs for in Suva, Navua and Sigatoka.

Today, the Prime Minister is in Taveuni to hand-out similar grants. He will be in Nadi on Friday for the same event.

Bainimarama says, by the end of the week, exactly 2,118 Fijians would have received a grant.

At the start of the program, government received more than 25,000 applications. Of these, more than 7,000 were deemed eligible.
