Four hundred and fifty new jobs were created in the textile, clothing and footwear industry.

This has been confirmed by TCF Council President Kaushik Kumar who says that these jobs were created in the last 8 months.

Kumar says challenges were faced after Tropical Cyclone Winston however the industry is now getting back on its feet.

“I’d say second half, the feedback I get from most of the colleagues in the industry, everyone is quite busy so I think the second half is going to be pretty good, I think we pretty much back to normal now.”

The industry employs 7000 people in over forty factories and 90 percent of them are women.
