The Fiji Roads Authority has completed over four hundred million dollars of work up to the third quarter of this year.
This has been confirmed by Minister for Infrastructure Parveen Kumar responding to comments from Opposition MPs that the FRA has only incurred around $200m of expenditure up to the third quarter.
Kumar has also denied the Opposition’s statement that there is a rush to complete works before the end of the year.
He has confirmed that the FRA and its suppliers are going about their work with an estimated 90% or more than 600 million dollars of works completed.
Kumar says they will ensure that the 2016 budget allocation to the FRA is also used wisely.
“FRA board is committed to streamlining, cost saving and ensuring that each dollar from this allocation will maximize return on better road infrastructure. A major reform package for FRA will be implemented so we have better attraction in its operation in building roads toward a better Fiji’’.
Fiji Roads Authority has been allocated a capital grant of $635.7m for next year.
