A total of 337 infringement notices were issued on day one of 2019.

Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra says drivers need to act responsibly and work together to make 2019 a safer year for drivers and pedestrians.

SSP Mishra is also calling on the public to assist Police in identifying drivers who are habitually not adhering to traffic rules

“We want you all to work together and we would like to ask for your support and let us be responsible and be careful as last year we have lost 70 people’s lives and 15 of them just because drink and drive.”

Out of the 337 infringement notices, speeding tops the list with 202 notices while 12 drivers have been issued notices for careless driving.

Meanwhile, seven drivers were arrested for drink and drive during New Year.
