The Fiji Sugar Corporation says they still expect to see around three million tonnes of cane production by 2021.

The FSC says that this target still stands for the sugarcane industry.

Chief Operating Officer, Navin Chandra says the Cane Development Program will continue, so that farmers can continue to plant new cane.

Chandra says more land will be allocated for the planting of new cane in months to come.

He says the government will provide assistance to the industry, but the FSC is working to stand on its own.
