The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji has terminated three staff members for causing significant transactional errors through BAF’s financial systems.

BAF is working closely with affected stakeholders to correct any errors resulting from the gross misconduct of the three terminated staff.

BAF Executive Chairman Xavier Riyaz Khan said apart from the internal disciplinary process measures, BAF’s report on the matter will be handed over to the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption.

This will allow an independent investigation to be conducted and any prosecution as many be determined by FICAC.

Khan says the 3 staff caused serious transactional errors by posting transactions into different accounts.

He adds that these financial errors not only jeopardized BAF’s financial systems but could have resulted in serious loss in revenue.
