$250k allocated for Fiji Day celebration

Preparation for the Fiji Day celebration is well underway with events planned this Thursday for Levuka, Lautoka, Labasa and Suva.

Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary Manasa Lesuma says $250 000 has been allocated for the national celebrations to mark 49 years of Fiji’s Independence.

Lesuma says the celebration on October 10th will effectively mark the country’s progress with the theme ‘A Sustainable and Progressive Fiji for All’.

“The main center will be here in Suva which will be officiated by this Excellency the President, the day begins basically with a parade by the Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force and Corrections.”

Republic of Fiji Military Force Chief Staff Officer Operations, Major Lepani Domoni says around 400 personnel will be involved in the parade on the day as well as their Artillery contingent.
