25,000 Fijians benefit from rural electrification project

Over the last five years government has provided funding support of $224 million towards the energy sector.

Infrastructure Minister Jone Usamate says of the $224 million, 70 percent has been allocated specifically for rural electrification.

Usamate says over 25,000 Fijians have benefitted from this project so far.

In 2018/2019 budget an additional $60 Million was set aside for rural electrification projects which included grid extension and house wiring to 6,623 households

Positive impacts of this infrastructure development the Minister says will enable Fijians to achieve greater things for their families and the country.
