Twenty-five speed cameras have been installed in blackspot areas around the country.
This was highlighted by Minister for Transport Praveen Kumar in parliament today after questions raised by Government MP Jilila Kumar on efforts undertaken to address road fatalities.
Kumar says last year the Land Transport Authority invested around $900,000 to improve office processing equipment to ensure traffic infringement notices reach customers more quickly.
For public awareness, the Minister says LTA carries out home visitations, driver intervention, safer pedestrian crossing, schools and community outreach programs.
Kumar says LTA has also received 4192 messages through their texting platform
He adds that LTA now has 8 vehicles to carry out enforcement.
