Polling for those 22 venues that were suspended on Wednesday will now be carried out from 7.30am to 6pm tomorrow.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says as a result of discussions with the Electoral Commission, the decision has been finalized to hold polling for the 22 venues that were affected in the Central, Western and Eastern Division.

” The Electoral Commission held a meeting on the 15th of November and they have resolved that in accordance with Section 47 (8) of the Electoral Act, they approved the adjournment of polling for the affected polling stations due to flooding. In consultation with the Supervisor of Elections, they determined that the new date for the election in these areas is Saturday, 17th November from 7.30am to 6pm.”

Saneem also clarified that Raiwasa Community Hall was not one of the polling venues affected and was incorrectly added to the list.

It brings the number of voters affected down to 7498.

Saneem says ballot papers for polling in the respective areas have been printed.

The SOE had also initially clarified that those that already voted prior to the decision to suspend polling had their votes cancelled and would now have to re-vote.
