$207m to be invested in network development

Around $207 million dollars will be invested by Vodafone Fiji in mobile network infrastructure development.

Minister for Communications Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says 95 percent of the country has network coverage and upgrade work is being carried out in areas which have intermittent coverage.

“We got about 85 towers coming up that will see an upgrade and this will include Vanua Levu, Taveuni and we expect the Taveuni rollout to be completed in the first week of June.”

He also revealed that two new towers will be built in the Rewa delta.

Opposition MP Anare Jale questioned the Minister on the transmitter tower in Vanuabalavu and when it will be rebuilt after sustaining damages during Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016.
