$200m worth of drugs seized last year: COMPOL

The Police Force had seized over two hundred million dollars’ worth of drugs during various operations last year.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says as the battle against drugs continues, last year was a record year for the force.

The Police Chief says they’re now working with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution to destroy these drugs.

“Because that in itself creates problem for us. Health issues, and also my officers could be tempted to re-sell these drugs. So we are working hard on that, in getting everything properly inveterate and cross check before we work with the DPP to get them destroyed.”

Qiliho says there has been no sudden surge in drug cases because they have been working hard to apprehend those involved.
