About 200 women artisans from Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata are taking part in a two day craft show in Savusavu.
Opening the craft show this morning, Westpac Everywhere Banking Officer North, Asenaca Maisema, says taking part in such events is not easy as it will require the women to divide time between family and making their crafts.
Maisema encourages the ladies to use the opportunity to learn from each other and share best practices.
Events today included the judging of handicraft items, a fashion show and a financial literacy training for the women.
Maisema says it is important for the women to know the importance of becoming financially literate as it will enable them to make informed decisions to becoming financially independent.
140 women taking part in the craft show will be chosen to be part of the National Women’s Expo in Suva.
The names will be announced at the end of the craft show tomorrow.
