February 19, 2018 1:12 am

Twenty seasonal workers from Levuka and Kadavu have left to work for Bostok New Zealand Limited under the Recognized Seasonal Employer worker Scheme.

Turaga-na-Tui Levuka, Ratu Etonia Seru encouraged the workers to do well as they were selected by the vanua and were not self-nominated.

Ratu Seru urged the group to perform their work to the best of their ability as this will give others the opportunity to experience the same and reap its benefits.

He says their performance in New Zealand will affect their group, family, village, Tikina and the vanua as a whole.

The Turaga-na-Tui Levuka reminded them to work as a team, think of each other in times of need and work smarter.

The workers underwent a pre-departure orientation training in Nasese, Suva last week.

Bostok New Zealand has been recruiting workers from Fiji since 2015.

Permanent Secretary for Employment, Salaseini Daunabuna says despite the negative image portrayed by some workers in 2016 and last year, the employer is still willing to employ Fijians.
