The Chinese government has offered to assist the Fiji Police Force in its fight to combat the circulation of drug and cocaine in the country.
Speaking to FBC News, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo says China will offer assistance through equipment and personnel training.
“The first step is personnel training we are going to invite twenty Fijian Police officers to go to China to get special training because we are more experienced in this area.”
The Ambassador says the offering of this assistance follows the Police Commissioner’s recent visit to China.
Bo says the Police cooperation between the two nations has grown immensely over the last ten years, as both forces are working together on a number of fronts.
He also adds military assistance from China to Fiji is the biggest in comparison to the combination of assistance provided by other countries to Fiji.
The Ambassador also highlighted that the Chinese government donated 200 vehicles to the Fijian government earlier this year of which 50 were handed over to the Police Force, 30 for school buses and 30 to be used for ambulance services.
