20 FSC officials undergo training in India

The Indian government is committed to reviving Fiji’s sugar sector.

Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal says currently there are 20 Fiji Sugar Corporation officials in India undergoing training.

Sapkal says they gaining knowledge on many aspects of sugar plantation which includes sugarcane plantation and boiling.

“They are at present at the Vasantdada Sugar Institute in Pune, Maharashtra. Vasantdada Sugar Institute is an organization which looks after 150 sugar factories in Maharashtra.” 

Sapkal says he has attended the successful first batch completion program.

He says all the officers are keen to come back and replicate the knowledge which they have received to boost sugar production in the country.
