Two teams are investigating the rape of a nine-year-old student in Nakasi, Nausori on Tuesday afternoon.

The child was walking to her home after school when she was attacked and raped by an unknown person.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Henry Brown says this is a serious matter and all efforts are being put in to ensure the perpetrator is arrested.

Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says he has been informed that 30 police officers are working on the case.

The student is admitted in hospital.
