18 produced in court for allegedly drinking in public places

Eighteen people were produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday for allegedly drinking in a public place last Friday.

All have been charged with one count of disobedience of lawful order.

It’s alleged all the accused were drinking at Narara Parade, Vitogo Parade and Yasawa Street in Lautoka, when asked to disperse from the respective areas by police, they refused.

The Lautoka Magistrate has released the 18 people on strict bail conditions with a bail-bond of $1,000, and two sureties each.

They were also ordered to pay $200 cash bail each.

The 18 accused have also been ordered to remain indoors from 7pm to 6am daily, not to reoffend and not to interfere with witnesses.

The matter has been adjourned to 8th October.
